Such Great Heights

I love living in Colorado! And Alexan Arista is in the perfect location between both Boulder and Denver. Most of us in Colorado like to climb, and one of my favortire places is Bear Peak Trail.

Bear Peak is the highest peak in the Boulder Area and the views are just fantastic! It is a challenge, but the view makes it totally worth it. I would not climb it by myself though, since I have seen bear tracks, go figure.

The trail should take you about 6 hours at a medium pace, if you have some spare time this holiday weekend, why not try to challenge yourself?

Happy Hour at Bloom!

Have you ever been to Bloom for Happy Hour?

I am always on the lookout for some great deals. I mean I love saving money and having fun at the same time! Which is why I love Happy Hour at Bloom. Everyday, from 3-6 you can get food and drink specials.

I like to split the Calamari and the sliders with friends. Seriously the calamari is to die for! And they always have interesting drink specials. So it is fun to be adventurous for less than 5 dollars. Although currently my standby is the Elderflower Drop. If beer is more your thing, they have bottles starting at $2.50!

Bloom is a great place to go and the menu changes seasonally, so there is always something new to try!

Bloom is located on 1 W Flatiron Cir Ste 224, only 10 minutes down the turnpike from Alexan Arista.

6 Reasons I Love Alexan Arista!

Posted on August 25, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Alexan Arista has great kitchens!

I really love renting and after owning a home and going back to renting, I don’t ever want to own again. I like that if I have any issue, there is always staff here to fix it! And, I don’t have to pay for it out of pocket. There is no budgeting for unexpected repairs. It is fantastic. Alexan Arista is a great place to live. Here are the top 6 reasons I am glad to call it home.

1. Greystar Concierge. We all lead busy lives and there are so many great complementary services to choose from. My favorite though might be the spa booking service.

2. Wi-fi at the pool and the cyber cafe: Sometimes just need to be out of your apartment, but you still want to be online.

3. I don’t need a gym membership! But I can still get slim, we have a state of the art athletic facility right here on the property.

4. Guest suites for visitors. I love my mom really I do, but when she comes to visit, it is best for all involved if she does not stay in my apartment. This way she is close but not too close.

5. Resident Functions: These are great and an awesome way to meet your neighbors.

6. The contemporary feel of my place. I love the high ceilings.

Have you been to Boulder's Dinner Theatre?

I have never been to a Dinner Theatre. But I hear that Boulder’s Dinner Theatre is a great one. Basically, you get a wonderful play and dinner at the same time. What’s not fun about that?

Right now, Boulder’s Dinner Theatre is playing Peter Pan. The musical based on the children’s book by one J.M Barrie. Peter Pan is the story of a boy who lives in Neverland who never wants to grow up, who must battle pirates and send Wendy home

Tickets start at $35.00 which includes a standard entree. The food looks pretty good especially the pot roast. .Image via Wikipedia

Future shows coming to Boulder’s Dinner Theatre include:

Shout!: September 10th-November 13th.

Hello Dolly: November 18th- February 26th.

Swing!: March 4th- May 8th.

Cats: May 14th- September 3rd.

Alexan Arista is located 22 minutes from Boulder’s Dinner Theatre. From the property, take the turnpike to Foothills Parkway.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World.

Can Scott Pilgrim emerge victorious?

While it seems that the rest of the country was seeing, The Expendables or Eat Pray Love, I saw Scott Pilgrim vs the World. The film was actually better than I expected it to be and I think is worth seeing. My birthday was on Friday and I had planned on seeing a matinee of Eat Pray Love with my mom, but the projector broke, which led us to Scott Pilgrim.

My mom, while she was not interested in the storyline or the game feel to the movies, she did not grow up playing video games, did enjoy the special effects. I overall liked the film, but felt that it dragged in some areas.

The basic premise is the Scott Pilgrim is a lovable loser, who meets the girl of his dreams (Ramona Flowers) and must then defeat her seven evil exes in order to be with her. It is based on the graphic novel series of the same name. The film stars Michael Cera as the main character.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World is playing at a lot of theaters here in Broomfield. Here is a list: and has anyone seen Eat Pray Love? It is still on the list.

Butterflies are beautiful.

Have you been to the Butterfly Pavilion lately? Their exhibit, Dr. Entomo’s Palace of Exotic Wonders, close on August 22. This exhibit, which is set up like an old circus exhibit, shows the wonders of the invertebrate world. It is a family friendly event, but bugs freak me out.

It is supposed to be a great exhibit though with many invertebrates you have not seen  before, like the Zebra Tarantula, and Whip Scorpion.  You can learn about these creepers and really gross yourself out.

Then you can go into the Butterfly Pavilion, and take in the beauty of the insect world. The Pavilion is open everyday from 9-5. Make a day of it and walk in the Nature Trail as well.

The Butterfly Pavilion is located at 6252 W. 104th Avenue in Westminster. Alexan Arista is just 8 minutes from the Butterfly Pavilion.

Instead of throwing it in the Dump, why not try upcycling? UpCycling, is where you use something old in a new way. In the case of your silverware, why not bend to make jewelry. Or recover your couch.

You can then sell your upcycled wares on Etsy.com. Or, maybe the next time you are looking for something to buy to decorate your place, or buy a gift for a for a friend, check out Etsy.com, just type in upcycled in the search bar.

Broth

Do you ever want to make bigger batches of food so that the ingredients you bought just for that recipes? Well, if it is mostly liquid, why not freeze it into smaller portions?

All you have to do to freeze soups and salsas, is to use some old ice cup trays. Pour the cooled down liquid into the cups. Then freeze them, when you are ready to heat again, just pop out a few cubes. So, simple. If you want to prevent freezer burn, try putting them in a ziploc bag.

One of my favorite things to do is make my own chicken stock and freeze it. You add chicken bones and spices to water and let it cook until a broth forms. Use your crock pot. There is something special about your own broth.

What are your favorite recipes, Alexan Arista Residents?
